Man overboard: prevention and response: Code of practice

Last updated: 27 November 2024

This Code provides general guidance for all commercial fishing industry vessels in Western Australia on the management of occupational safety and health issues relevant to the prevention of and response to man overboard incidents. While there are systems of work considerations in relations to eliminating and reducing the risks, this Code's focus is on general safety and health issues relevant to man overboard events.

Use of this Code will need to look at their operation and its level of risk in relation to man overboard, as this Code does not deal with every situation that may be found on commercial fishing vessels. Capability operations, situations, equipment, machinery and tasks vary and hazards and risks not referred to in this Code may arise requiring controls other than those recommended in this code.
